Question by benbass83: What’s a good Birthright trip to Israel for three guys looking for a fun vacation?
Im looking to go to Israel with my free Birthright trip this winter with two friends. We’ve never been. We’re not looking to be preached to religiously or politcally (we’re 24 and not very impressionable), we just want to see the country and have a good time. If you could pass along websites or contact info for the group you recommend, that would be much appreciated. Also, is it a bad idea to go in December or January? I’ve heard summer is nicer (obviously) but does it make much of a difference in terms of your overall experience? Thanks in advance for your help.

Question by Chris: Which cell phone company to use while vacationing in Israel?
To whom this may concern,
I will be traveling to Israel in 2 weeks for approximately 3 weeks. I was hoping that you can direct me in the right direction for a cell phone company to use while vacationing.
If you have used this company please give me some details about them (ie. how are their rates? service?). I just dont want to get screwed.
Thank you and happy holidays!

I like Talk n Save.
I’ve tried more than one company (the first one I used gave me an ugly old flip phone and charged something like 50 cents a minute, nuts), and I like them (site is www.talknsave.net) the best. I think the rates are as good as anyone else or better and they’ve always been very nice and polite to me (another company I used answered my emails with like one line and didn’t answer half my questions).
I don’t like prepaid because it’s not safe. Israel is a volatile area – I don’t want to be caught in an emergency and totally be stuck cause I have no more minutes.

Question by escape_society: What are the important international and domestic laws regarding Israel/Gaza issue?
What are the important international and domestic laws regarding Israel/Gaza issue?
I’m writing a report on the international laws and domestic laws of Israel in regard to Gaza and the Humas. Is there a website that (unbiasedly) gives information about those laws that are currently in debate, or being reported as being broken/influential?
If not, do you know of some key laws I could look into by name?
Thanks!

Question by Sad Fiddler: How safe is it for the American goyim to vacation in Israel?
I’m a travel agent and I’m hearing of organ theft, Jews spitting on and attacking Christian tourists and IDF soldiers machine gunning tourists laptops.
Are these just isolated incidents or is traveling to Israel as dangerous as it sounds?

Answer by phishfour I was in Israel in March and I have never felt safer anywhere in the world. The people were all friendly. I saw no crime or terrorism. I saw nothing suspicious. I stayed in Tel Aviv and there were old people walking the streets late at night with no worries. I felt safer there then in my home city of Boston.

I’m doing a 15 minute presentation on the international and domestic laws that are important to the situation regarding Gaza. There seem to be many laws and ideas, so what are some of the more important laws I should research for it?
Thanks! Links would help a lot

“Palestinian” terrorists use their own people as human shields; they shoot rockets into Gaza aimed at civilian sites. They (palestinians) are attempting to smuggle weapons into Gaza —- those aren’t love boats —- the terrorists care nothing for human life and the goal is to annhilate the Jews.
The Jews have given up land and exhausted every means to live peaceably with them. There will never be a 2-state solution.

can’t believe the ones I have found online are the best. Harretz, obviously liberal, Debka, who charges. They don’t update enough.
Are there maybe local news papers that post online? I know they may be in Hebrew but I am learning so thats OK.

I looked at all the other countries in the middle east travel section and they actually ask travel questions. So here is my Israel “travel” question. What is the best beach town in Israel to vacation in?
Hey Michael, when you say Tel Aviv, do you mean Ra’anana specifically? What’s that place like? Thanks!

Question by Josh: What is the best Taglit-Birthright Israel trip organizer for me?
I am thinking about going to Israel and I know that the trip organizer you have is what really affects the trip, ranging from a really fun trip to a preachy one. I am a secular Jewish college student. I understand I’m going to learn a little and see a museum or two, but I primarily want to enjoy the weather, see the cities, and go to clubs/bars. Does anyone know which of the organizers cater the most towards college students?

Answer by dm90 Hillel, for sure. I went on Birthright-Israel with Hillel from the University of Virginia in the winter of 08-09 and it was absolutely amazing. They are secular (meaning you can use electricity on Shabbat and they don’t enforce any Orthodox rules) but they are completely respectful of Judaism and, of course, many activities are intimately entwined with the religion. Here’s a sample itinerary, I think you’ll find it useful. http://www.hillel.org/NR/rdonlyres/6CA63C28-CEE7-47C9-887A-1FF833EA3939/0/trip_itinerary_sample.pdf
The Israeli military has released its report into the deadly raid on the Gaza aid flotilla on May 31, which killed nine people. The 100-page document criticises the Israeli navy for “serious errors” in preparing and carrying out the assault at sea. But when it came to the conduct of Israeli soldiers during the raid, the report found no wrongdoing and instead, praised officers who took part in it. Al Jazeera’s Sherine Tadros reports from Jerusalem. (July 13, 2010)
